We Believe
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error in what it says. It tells the story of a loving God on a relentless pursuit to redeem His beloved creation. The Bible is trustworthy to be our final authority on all matters of faith, life and practice.
(2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe there is one God, forever existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – equal in deity, power and glory.
(Genesis 1:1, 26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-3; Romans 1:20; Ephesians 4:4-6, 2 Corinthians 13:14)
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God – true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a life without sin and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to pay for our sins. Jesus rose from the grave bodily and ascended to the Father.
(Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13)
We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates and lives inside every believer in Jesus, guiding us into all truth and equipping us with spiritual gifts for service. Those who have accepted Jesus as Lord are born again of the Spirit and become children of God.
(John 1:12-13, 3:3-5, 14:17, 16:13; 1 Peter 1:23; Titus 3:3-6; 1 Corinthians 12:11-13)
We believe humans were created in the image of God to glorify Him, but they sinned and suffered both physical and spiritual death. All humans are born sinners, guilty in our thoughts, words and actions. It’s only through God – not by our own efforts – that we can be restored to a right relationship with Him.
(Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-24; Romans 3:23-25; 5:12-19; 1 John 1:8)
We believe the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross, is the only way our sins can be forgiven. God freely offers eternal salvation to anyone who repents of sin and places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are born again in Christ by faith and grace alone.
(Matthew 20:28, 28:6; John 3:16-17; Romans 3:24-26; 5:1, 8:1, 10:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9; 1 John 2:2)
We believe in the Church – the Body of Christ – of which Jesus Christ is the head, whose members are those who have placed their faith in Him. Our purpose is to glorify God by loving Him, obeying His commands and sharing the Gospel to all people. Followers of Jesus are to meet together regularly, helping one another become more like Christ through worship, teaching, prayer, communion and encouragement.
(Matthew 5:1-7:28, 28:19-20; Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 1:8, 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 1:22-23)
We believe water baptism by immersion is the public testimony of a believer’s faith in, and commitment to, following Jesus Christ. Communion is a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that believers are to take regularly in remembrance of Him. Those who take communion should be born-again believers who are walking in fellowship with Christ.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:28-47, 8:36-40, 10:47; 18:8; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29, 12:13)
We believe Jesus Christ will personally return to the earth at the end of the age to resurrect and judge the living and the dead. We will either experience everlasting joy with God in heaven, or endless conscious punishment without Him in hell. Our eternal destination is solely determined by our response to Jesus Christ in this life.
(Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:26-29; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:4-15)
